Eric Knapp, founder and owner of EBA
Eric Knapp was a 4 year starter on the varsity team at Corona High in Corona, Ca. He was a 3 time all-league recipient, 2 time league MVP, the CIF player of the year and team captain.
Eric went on to earn a full scholarship to play college basketball at NCAA Division I St. Mary's College of California in Moraga. Eric played in the NCAA tournament. He was honored with defensive player of the year as a Junior and ranks among the highest in St. Mary's history for steals.
Post college, Eric continued his passion for basketball by coaching at California High School in San Ramon as the Junior Varsity head coach. Eric also worked in the IT industry as a manager for 12 years. Eric has been married for 14 years and has 3 daughters ages 7, 5 and 3. Most recently, Eric has also enjoyed refereeing recreation leagues and coaching his daughter's soccer and basketball teams.
Matt Juillerat, Player Development Coach
Matt played high school basketball locally at Amador Valley in Pleasanton, CA and graduated in 2008. He was named team captain and starting point guard all 4 years with the program, while earning team MVP his senior year.
He continued his basketball career by earning a scholarship to Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. In his first year he was named team captain and became the starting point guard. Matt managed to lead the team in assist-to-turnover ratio, and was 2nd in steals. When his playing days ended at Lane, Matt jumped right into coaching where he became Assistant Head Coach of Mohawk High School Men's Varsity basketball team near Eugene.
While playing at Lane CC and coaching at Mohawk High School, Matt also was a full time student at the University of Oregon, where he graduated in 2012. After college, he returned to the Bay Area and began working in the IT industry, and currently still does. He continues to feed his passion for basketball by playing in competitive men's leagues around the Bay Area and training local young athletes.
Tommy Cech, Player Development Coach
Tommy played high school basketball at Foothill in Pleasanton, CA and graduated in 2008.
While working his way through college, Tommy began coaching local middle school teams and providing skill development training for young athletes. In 2011, Tommy became the head coach of the Foothill high school freshman team. The following year, he took over as head J.V. coach and still holds that position today.
As a coach in the highly competitive E.B.A.L., Tommy understands and appreciates the value of fundamental skill work and has a passion for developing those skills in young players. Tommy currently works in the fitness industry as a manager at Club Sport Pleasanton.
